Janet has new song on forthcoming soundtrack

Janet Jackson (Ms. Jackson if you're nasty) will have a new song featured on the forthcoming 'Chicago' movie soundtrack, so reports Billboard Bulletin. The track, which is still yet untitled, is expected to be the soundtrack's lead off single. The album has a tentative street date of Nov. 26 courtesy of Epic Records. The film, an adaptation version of the hit musical, is due Dec. 25 in U.S. theaters.

Miramax president of motion picture music
Randy Spendlove told Billboard Bulletin, "Janet Jackson was a perfect choice for this soundtrack because this is a dance-oriented movie. The song will reflect the spirit of the film."

"Chicago" stars
Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Richard Gere, all of whom will do their own singing in the movie as well as have the songs featured on the soundtrack. Rap diva Queen Latifah and R&B songstress Mya also have supporting roles in the film.

Craig David returns with sophomore set

After his tremendous success both in his native England and here in the states R&B sensation Craig David returns with his sophomore set 'Slicker Than Your Average', due out November 11 in the U.K. on Wildstar label, and on November 19 in the U.S. on Atlantic Records

The first single from set is reportedly titled 'What's Your Flava?' but 'Cocoa Butter' (that samples Genuwine's 'Pony') has been sent to radio. David also reportedly recorded a duet with Sting that will appear on the new album.

David still remains very focused and passionate about his music: said David "Music is everything to me. It's, like, some people feel it's like a culture, some people kind of can jump in and out of it, and be an actor or an actress, but for me it's like music is a natural expression for me--like talking to somebody. And I find it kind of easy to just to scribble down things that I feel and let people know, be it good or bad,but people seem to be enjoying it, which is cool." .

Floetry's debut set due Oct. 1st

Speaking of Londoners, poetry and music is brought to life once again in the form of R&B latest female duo - Floetry. The London natives (Natalie Stewart and Marsha Ambrosius) co-wrote and has masterfully crafted a delightful set called  "Floetic," due Oct. 1 (on DreamWorks).

The debut album from the London lasses is filled with juicy prime cuts that's reminisce of the 'Philly flow' of things which is not as coincidental as one might think seeing that the album was produced in Philly at
Jazzy Jeff's 'A Touch of Jazz'  studios. The the lead off single and title track 'Floetic' has already received numerous spins across the medium of radio and cyberspace airwaves and is steadily picking up steam on various station playlists.

The 14 track album has pleasing floor fillers like 'Fun' and 'Possibilities' as well as the move slow grooves of 'Say Yes', 'Hey You' and 'Hello'. Producers include Jazzy Jeff himself, Andre Harris, Vidal Davis, Vikter Duplaix, (collectively known as The Misfits) Ivan Barius, Darren Henson and Keith Pelzer, Great album here dare not sleep on this one - go get it .

Tasha's World - The Netherlands latest import

Neo-soul songstress Natasha Slagtand and her band, Tasha's World, are drawing a lot of attention in the music world and rightfully so. The Netherlands native has been around ever since she was a nipper (her father was a bass player) and has received the coverted Essent Award in her native homeland. She is in the middle of setting up a Europe-wide release for her debut album, 'Tasha's World' (that's been released in Japan only so far) as well as a series of live dates in the UK.

With sales of the album doing well in Japan, there's talk of a new single to get a  release in the UK and Australia. The band has just completed touring in Holland playing to sold-out venues - including the
Lowlands Festival and an after party for Jill Scott. Natasha is looking to have the album on record shelves before Christmas in her native Holland and everywhere else [including the UK] by early in the new year.
