Conya Doss - a new star to shine

There's a buzz going around that there's a new voice that's grabbing some media attention. That new voice belongs to newcomer - Conya Doss. The free spirited 'neo soul' singer/poet (if you wanna classify her as that) that is causing quite a stir in the industry. The Cleveland Ohio native has a new album about to drop called 'A poem about Ms. Doss' on the newly founded 'Numecca' record label.

It would seem that this young lady is an 'overnight sensation' but that she is not. She's been singing since the age of 5 and have worked with the likes of Musiq Soulchild, 112 and Gerald Levert. Speaking of Gerald Levert, the label which her album is released on (Nu Mecca) is the brainchild of Gerald's long-time songwriting partner Edwin 'Tony' Nicholas whose serves as president and Chief Executive Officer.

If you are into the likes of Jill Scott, Yahzarah, Ledisi and N' Dambi then Ms. Doss is right up your alley for the style and message she carries in her music. Check out her stunning remake of Norman Connors classic hit 'You are my Starship' renamed 'Starship' very nicely done and the debut single 'Coffee'. Lookout for her album in stores next month - Coffee anyone?

Donna Gardier is at 'Home' with new album

Remember Donna Gardier? She had moderate hits in 'Good Thing' and 'Reach Out' with Virgin in '91 was with the group 'Raw Stylus' who had the hit 'Believe in me' in '95.  Well Donna has decided to venture out on her own again after guest appearing on Dome records own Full Flava's remake of the Quincy Jones/Patti Austin hit 'Betcha wouldn't hurt me' (penned by Stevie Wonder) in 2000 and also on the 'Soul Power' compilation with 'Future' a year later.

Her latest effort's called 'Home' scheduled for release Sept 23rd (on Dome Records). I have no tracklistings as of yet as well as what the debut single will be but I'm on the case and will keep you posted as soon as it's available.

Kloud 9 twins celebrate birthday this week

This coming Thursday (Aug 29th) will a special day for twins Kelvis and Kendall Duffie, whom we know as the jazz duo of Kloud 9. That day will be their birthday and who is older you might ask - well that would be Kelvis (born 34 minutes earlier).

The lads are currently on a UK tour of London to promote their debut release 'On Kloud 9' will be stopping by Soul 24-7.com joining jock Alan Jay in the studio for a live broadcast between 4pm-7pm UK time. Be sure to tune in to wish the lads a happy B-day (I'll leave it up to them to tell you how old they are)!

Gospel duo Mary Mary returns with 'Incredible' set

Sister act duo Tina Campbell and Erica Campbell who form Mary Mary returns with their sophomore release 'Incredible' (on Columbia). The gals are riding high off the success of their debut set 'Thankful' which saw them receive several awards for the album which included the top ten hit single 'Shackles (Praise you)'

'Incredibe' picks up where the 'Thankful' left off with straight forward gospel grooves in the dance variety. The lead off single is 'In the Morning' a doey of a track that emphasizes the message that everything will be alright 'in the morning'.  More of the same is on the album with a lot of uptempo hits to move you and soothe you. The album is available in stores now - do get it
