Former TLC member Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopez dies in car crash

Hard to believe it but it's true, the most flamboyant and outspoken member of the group TLC, Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopez is dead according to a spokesperson for the group's label, Arista Records. Lisa was 30. The singer/songwriter was killed in a car crash while vacationing in Honduras. She was driving a rented Mitsubishi Montero SUV and traveling from La Ceiba to San Pedro Sula. According to her spokesperson, a three-person group called Egypt, her brother, sister and two producers were in the vehicle with her. The spokesperson said the SUV tipped over and Left Eye died after sustaining a blow to the head. According to authorities in Jutiapa, Lopes was not licensed to drive internationally and was apparently speeding and lost control. The car crashed in Roma, which is one of Jutiapa's provinces.

Everyone was taken to the Vicente D'Antoni hospital in La Ceiba and, according to that medical facility, there were eight other passengers in the vehicle. Four were released, and the remaining four remain hospitalized in stable condition. The U.S. Embassy in Honduras said it is working with the San Jose Funeral Home in La Ceiba and the Lopes family to make arrangements for the body to be flown back to Atlanta. No funeral plans have been made yet.

Spring break anyone?

Its that time of year again. Young colledge students across the country has been studying since the beginning of the term and now it's time for a break...spring break that is. Every year colledge kids from both near and far ascend onto towns like Daytona Beach, Los Angeles and Cancun, for some fun in the sun and boogie the night away. Parties will go on 'til the wee hours of the morning and the boys and girls will get out of control.

Back in my day, one wasn't that lucky to have such a treat but times change and so does school and colledge holidays. Night clubs and bars are specially allocated for the spring break holidays and with all that money to be made who can blame them so if you are one of the lucky few - enjoy yourselves.

Singer Lil' Mo is a Mom-to-be

First it was Brandy with the news she's expecting and now singer Lil' Mo can be added as a forthcoming mom-to-be. Amidst the rumors circling, the young lady announced on her official website that she is indeed pregnant and as she put it "not only do I have my own show, but Lil' MO is having her own baby. Yes, the rumours are true. The way everybody is talking about it, I would rather you heard it from The Mo's mouth and not everybody else's mouth. If you could help me with some baby names I'd appreciate it. I want a name starting with an A if its a girl or if its a boy    starts with a C".

Her much anticipated debut album, Based On A True Story,  has been on the shelf for the last 2 years but will finally see the light of day this summer and not only that but has been involved in several other projects as well. Most recently she added her vocals to Ja Rule’s Put It On Me, and Missy Elliott’s 'Hot Boyz'  which helped make the smash single the longest running #1 single on Billboard’s Rap Chart (19 weeks).

A woman that can do it all — performer, arranger, writer, producer - the Queens native has written and/or performed with stars like Teddy Riley, to Timbaland, Next, 702, Nicole, and Jay Z, to name a few. Congratulations love.

Raphael Saadiq - "Lucy Pearl are no more"

With the release of his debut solo album 'Instant Vintage' coming June 11th, Raphael Saadiq now has time to do other projects but said that Lucy Pearl may not be one of them said Saadiq "Lucy Pearl is basically over, but the new configuration would probably be myself and Joi and a possible. . .a person, I won't say this person, but a possible Mos Def for one record or something like that. There's no more Shaheed and no more Dawn Robinson."

The group's trouble seems doomed from the start when Dawn left with their indifferences with each other and their record label. A shame though cos' their one album was terrific.
