The Grammys: The winners are...

Alicia Keys and the soundtrack to 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' came out of the Grammy ceremony the big winners on the night taking home 5 and 6 trophies respectively. The reigning princess of R&B wins included two of the big four awards: Song of the Year for 'Fallin' ' and Best New Artist as well as Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song and Best R&B Album, for Songs in A Minor. She could of have all 6 she was nominated for had it not been for U2's Record of the Year win with 'Walk On ' but Alicia was thrilled nevertheless  - "I was excited — very, very thrilled, you have to be involved as an artist, never let people tell you what to do, or you will never do anything." said the young lady.

Speaking of U2, they didn't do too badly either winning 4 of the 8 they were including
Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group with a Vocal for 'Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of', Best Rock Vocal Performance by Duo or Group with Vocals for 'Elevation', and Best Rock Album for 'All That You Can't Leave Behind India Arie who got the 2nd most nods with 7 came up empty handed with naught and also overlooked was the UK's latest phenomena Craig David

Usher's early days gives a 'NuBeginning' to the man

Who would of thought it - with all his success as a solo artist that he was actually part of a group. 11 years after the fact Usher (given name: Usher Raymond) will release his very first recordings with the group 'Nubeginnings', Hip-O records will release and distribute the 10 song set that was recorded in Chattanooga his hometown.

The group Usher, Anthony Byrd, Adrian Johnson, Reginald McKibbon and Charles Yarbrough — was constructed by local music talent scout Darryl Wheeler. Tracks featured on the LP include their hometown anthem 'Chatt Town,' 'Sweet Baby ' and 'A Mother's Luv,' which will be the first single. After recording the album, Usher and his family moved to Atlanta, where his talents were watched with interest by Antonio ' L.A.' Reid, co-founder of LaFace Records. Next thing you know he does a song called 'Call Me a Mack ' on 1993's 'Poetic Justice ' soundtrack, and soon thereafter he was signed to LaFace where he released his self-titled debut in 1994. The album should drop at the end of the month.

LL Cool J's latest - a '10' with the ladies

LL Cool J makes the ladies happy, it's evident when he performs who screams the loudest when he does his patentive lick of the lips and so with that in mind LL (given name: James Todd Smith) will be dedicating his next album to the females.

'10' is the name of the forthcoming set that features an array of producers including
The Neptunes and The Trackmasters. This LP sees the rapper head back to his original roots, easy free flowing rap

The Neptunes-produced '
You Should,' is a typical illustration on how you should treat your missus. while 'Paradise." produced by The Trackmasters, samples the winning beat of Kenny Burke's classic hit of 82 'Keep rising to the Top ' that has Missy Elliott's latest protégé Tweet on hand singing background and chorus. Other notables tracks are 'Niggy Nuts ' (fellas bop your head to this one) and '10 Million Stories '. The lead off single 'Love You Better ' goes to radio in May

Finally....Raphael Brown shares his 'Private Life'

Well well well I never thought I'd see this young man's set get a release (much in the same vein as Jamie Hawkins self-titled set) but low and behold the lads at Arista came to their senses and now Raphael Brown is finally ready to unleash his debut set 'Private Life '. No track listing on this yet so I can't give you details but if last year's 'Maybe ' is any indication to what one can expect then this should be a pleasing listen all round.

As mentioned last year his radio friendly ballad 'Maybe ' worked it's way around various different radio formats and ruffled some motion in the way of airplay and  the promise of the album soon on the way but no follow up ever came until now that is so be on the look out for this young man's set available tomorrow.
