Robinson makes her solo
debut with her self-titled set on Q Records/Warner Bros. The former
vocalist from En-Vogue
and Lucy Pearl
branches out on her own with an array of songs worthy for contention of
your earlobes.
Dawn
is a 12 track set that's filled with tear jerkers and floor movers like 'Just
get up' and 'Set
it off' respectively and features a new batch of upcoming producers who have helped shaped the
sound of today's R&B music, Pajam
(Sisqo, N'Sync), Travon
Potts (Monica
and Christine Aguilera), Ivan
Barrios and
Carvin Haggins
(Jill Scott, Musiq)
and Kenni Ski
(Christion). It's smooth sailing from start to finish mixing
the likes of R&B, Soul, Funk and Jazz on various tracks. The lead-off
single is "Envious"
a funk infectious number guaranteed to stir something in you but the
sleeper hit to me is "Set
it off", a beautifully
produced track co- written by the young lady herself with it's light
strings and riffs, it makes for an instant dance floor hit.
Other notables include
'Still',
'Party, Party',
'Get Up Again' and
'Meaning Of A Woman'.

Remy
Shand says it's the 'Way I feel'
In
recent years we have had several male artists make their mark in the
neo-soul arena. The likes of Maxwell, D'Angelo, Bilal
and Musiq
Soulchild have all made a big impression but perhaps none might make an even
bigger impression as Remy Shand..
The 23 year old Canadian native's
time has come to light with 'Way
I feel', his debut release on
Motown Records. A masterful collection of songs that is of both character
and pride of the young man's work. The lead off single will be 'Take
a message' a misty and
irrestible song that's very soothing to the ear.
Remy
started writing the songs that became The
Way I Feel at 19. songs
like the Isleys-influenced "Everlasting,"
and the lovely hit-seeking "Rocksteady"
were among his first completed songs. Said Remy "I wanted to get some
feedback, so I put some songs on a tape and a friend sent the tape to his
brother, a manager in Toronto". Out of the blue, Steve Warden, (now
Remy’s manager), called to assure him that he could be signed to an
artist deal in a year. I said, "Yeah, right". But in just three
months, two labels had offered development deals. Remy took a deep breath
and declined, choosing to press his luck and insist on a contract to make
a full album. Soon there were several labels offering multi-album deals.
Universal prevailed, signed Remy as an album artist, and gave him all the
time he needed to complete work himself. In total, Remy worked on his
album for four years recording and mixing his album entirely at home in
Winnipeg.
The
finished product has produced some of finest array of songs from him the
mind of the man and I'm sure that you'll agree once you hear this young
man sing

Avant to
tour with Mary J who is to web ?
 It
has been confirmed that Avant
will be the opening act for label mate Mary
J Blige upcoming "No
More Drama" tour. The
tour kicked off in Albany's NY Palace theatre Feb. 5th and runs
through The United States, Japan, and Europe.
Presented by MTV, there are 15 U.S. dates with the more extensive tour
dates taking place across Europe (25 in all) beginning in mid-March.
Tickets are already on sale for shows in New
York and Boston,
and concerts in Washington,
Detroit,
Chicago,
Milwaukee,
Houston,
Poughkeepsie
and Toronto
are all went on sale this past weekend through Ticketmaster.

R.Kelly to
be investigated for sex tape with under age girl
 R&B
crooner
R. Kelly
is to be investigated by the Chicago Police for allegedly having sex
with an underage girl and videotaping the illegal act. As reported by
the Chicago Sun Times, the paper anonymously received a
26-minute, 39-second videotape that shows Kelly performing various sex
acts with the underage girl.
The publicly unnamed girl, who is now 17-years-old, was identified by a
family member who estimated she was 14 at the time the tape was made.
Chicago police have been investigating the allegations for as long as
three years, according to the paper. Because the girl and her parents
have in the past denied her involvement, there was no evidence on which
to prosecute Kelly. But authorities tell the paper that the tape makes
building a case more possible.
Kelly's
attorney, John M. Touhy,
claimed the video is not real. "Any tape you have is a fake, and we
find the timing of these events to be extremely suspicious," he
told the paper.
