Alicia Keys leads the way for the most nods for upcoming AMA Awards

 

Hitting on all keys - Alicia KeysR&B reigning princess newcomer Alicia Keys, who has won commercial and critical acclaim with her debut release "Songs in A Minor," (on J Records) received a leading five American Music Awards nominations it was announced on Nov. 13. The young lady received nominations in both the pop and R&B fields for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite New Artist.

"Songs in A Minor" was nominated in the R&B album category alongside Janet Jackson's "All for You" and Aaliyah's self-titled album. Aaliyah was also nominated for favorite female R&B artist. The three-hour ceremony will be broadcast live by ABC-TV on Jan. 9 from Los Angeles

R. Kelly, Alicia Keys and others bring 'Ali' soundtrack to the 'ring'  

 

Speaking of Alicia, the "Ali" soundtrack, (which is due out November 27,) will have an Ali-inspired track called 'Fight' from the young lass. The soundtrack will include 2 new tracks produced and penned by R. Kelly. The songs "The World's Greatest" and "Hold On," along with former boxer Everlast ("The Greatest") is a fitting tribute to the man known as 'The Greatest'.

"The World's Greatest," a patriotic ballad in the form of a marching drum, is to be the album's first single, according to a spokesperson for Interscope Records. Other soundtrack contributors include
Angie Stone, Bilal and newcomer Truth Hurts, who has a cameo in the film and covers the Jerry Butler song "For Your Precious Love."

Janet Jackson plans to do an HBO concert 

 

The lovely lass we know as "Ms. Jackson is you're nasty" plans to have another HBO concert this time around from Hawaii. The concert called Janet Jackson - 'All for you: Live from Hawaii will be broadcast live February 17th 2002.

The concert is expected to feature the greatest hits from her past as well as latest hits from her 'All for you' album. Look out for it

Vibe the magazine releases book called 'HipHop Divas'

 

Vibe magazine has published a book dedicated to the women of Hip Hop called Hip Hop Divas The book features the life stories of some of hip hop's most celebrated rapstresses including the renown Queen Latifah, Salt 'n' Pepa and Roxanne Shante to name a few. The book is available now at a bookstore near you.
