Essence mag co-founder to release Cafe Soul All-Star set, 'Love Pages'

Steller compilation - Cafe Soul All Stars Clarence Smith the co-founder of the black glamour magazine Essence will release a Cafe Soul compilation CD called 'Love Pages' due in stores next month and will feature some heavyweight performers from the soul and Jazz arena.

The likes of George Benson, Peabo Bryson, Glenn Jones, Vesta aka (Vesta Williams), Maysa, Christopher Williams, Jon Lucien, master vibest Roy Ayers and many others are all scheduled to appear with all new material for the set.

"The goal is to bring back quality music. Music that engages people emotionally, intellectually and spiritually" says Smith, now CEO of YOU Entertainment, who along with producers Duke Jones and the legendary Norman Connors, is the guiding light behind one of this years' most anticipated collection of talent in recent memory.

No doubt that the line up for the album is impressive but so is the Café Soul All-Stars, the band anchoring the set who are comprised of an equally stellar cast of renowned session musicians; trumpeters Duke Jones and Chris Albert, keyboardist Bobby Lyles, guitarist Kaspar Galli, drummer Steve Williams, saxaphonist Rene McLean and bassist Alex Blake. The end result is an ear pleasing collection of tunes that are both radio friendly and soulful.

The first single, 'What You Gonna Do' features Glenn Jones. Also on tap is 'Used To Be' featuring Christopher Williams, Vesta shines with 'One More Bridge To Cross', Peabo Bryson delivering a powerful performance with 'Don't Make Me Cry' and George Benson takes a stab at the title track. Topping things off is Bobby Lyle's 'Urban Jungle' featuring Roy Ayers and Kenny Garrett. All in all a terrific album and it's very apparent that Love Pages is destined to become a staple in every true R&B lover's collection.
