Janet Estranged husband seeks property settlement

After the papers were served telling him their marriage is over, ex-husband to be Rene Elizando is now seeking not only the money aspect (as most would) but a property settlement as well. Elizando who met Janet in 1986 were secretly married 2 yrs later (much to the demise of the general public who didn't have a clue). The amount of the settlement has not yet been disclosed but a hearing is in the process of being scheduled in which the two parties will have their say.

Destiny's Child, Brian McKnight amoung AMA winners

Destiny's Child and Brian McKnight were standing in the winners at the 28th annual American Music Awards held Monday January 8th at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The awards are similar to the Peoples Choice Awards in which the fans do the voting for their favorite artists rather than the industry's select elite. Faith Hill took top honors with 3 awards including 'Country Album of the Year' and 'Best Pop Female Vocalist' and Toni Braxton herself won two while Donell Jones took home Best Soul/R&B Artist.

Janet Jackson was honored with the 'Award of Merit' for her contributions to the music industry. Other winners in the R+B/Rap field were:

  •
  • Soul/R&B female artist: Toni Braxton
  • Soul/R&B male artist: Brian McKnight
  • Soul/R&B band, duo, or group: Destiny's Child
  • Soul/R&B new artist: Donell Jones
  • Soul/R&B album: "Heat," Toni Braxton
