            wins big at Soul Train Music Awards    
             The 
              winning ways continue for rap's new found heros, Outkast.

               Benjamin and Antwan 
              'Big Boi' Patton 
              took home two Soul Train awards this past Saturday night 
              at the 18th Annual Soul Train awards which was held at the International 
              Cultural Center Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. The Atlanta 
              natives are on a winning streak of late with thier recent wins at 
              the Grammy awards last month. They won for R&B/Soul 
              or Rap Album of the Year for 'Speakerboxxx/The 
              Love Below and the Michael Jackson 
              Award for Best R&B/Soul 
              or Rap Music Video for 'Hey 
              Ya!'Beyoncé grabbed the 
              Best R&B/Soul Album, Female, for her debut solo effort 'Dangerously 
              in Love' and was also honored with the Sammy 
              Davis Award for 'Entertainer 
              of the Year' she led all nominees with four nods. Meanwhile 
              Luther Vandross's 
              'Dance With My Father' won for 
               Best R&B/Soul Single, Male, 
              while newcomer Chingy claimed 
              his first award for Best R&B/Soul or

             In the last few monts, it 
              makes a change to see that something good was said and given to 
              Janet Jackson. She was honored 
              with the Quincy Jones Career Achievement 
              Award. With her breasts safely clothed in a gorgeous 
              white gown, Janet received a 
              standing ovation when she went to accept the award which took place 
              at the International Cultural Center Auditorium in Los Angeles.  The R&B singer and actor 
            thanked all her fans saying 'You've been there with me during the 
            good as well as the bad, I truly thank God for that strength and you 
            for your belief in me you've lifted me up with your love and your 
            support has always been a great source of comfort especially these 
            last few weeks'. 
 Janet's new album Dameta Jo hit 
            stores next week (Mar 30th) with Janet scheduled to make several talk

            Benson speaks out about the state of todays music  
               
             
               Guitarist 
                and singer Geroge Benson released his latest album 'Irresistable' 
                in my native UK and during a recent interview spoke about the 
                state that musc is in and those who are trying to make it in the 
                business. In a statement given today 
                  Seltzer said Whitney 'thanks everyone for their support and 
                  prayers,' but declined to give any further details on the matter. 
                   In an televised interview 
                  on ABC's 'Primetime' with Diane Sawyer Houston, 40, admitted 
                  that she had abused drugs in the past, but stated at the time 
                  of the interview that she had 'gotten beyond that time through 
                  prayer'.  As for her husband Bobby, 
                  he was sentenced to serve 60 days in jail in late February for 
                  violating his probation. One of the violations included a disputed 
                  misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly striking Houston, leaving 
                  her with a bruised cheek and a cut inside her lip.

            The 
              Queen of Soul is hospitalized 
                 The 
                legendary Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin 
                was hospitalized on Saturday (Mar 20th) and has remained there 
                for an undisclosed ailment. She is listed in stable condition.
 Her publicist has declined 
                to elaborate or say to what extent is her condition but the Queen 
                of Soul, who lives in Detroit, is receiving 
                treatment. No information was given about the seriousness of her 
                illness or how long she would be hospitalized.  The legendary singer will 
                see her 62nd birthday on March 25 and last month she won a Grammy 
                for the Best Traditional R&B Vocal 
                Performance for her song 'Wonderful' 
                taken from her latest album 'So Damn 
                Happy'  The only live performance 
                date on Franklin’s itinerary is an April 20 concert at B.B. King’s 
                Blues Club in New York.
