Remember that February is 'Black History' month

Remember Black History For those of us who are not aware of it, February is Black History month here in the United States. Throughout the month there will be special programs on the small screen with cable channels Black Entertainment Television and Biography Channel leading the way.

While the obvious will be shown throughout the month, BET has joined forces with none other than Miss Janet Jackson for a series commercials supporting the BET Black History Month. Janet appears in all black, seated in a chair facing backwards as she tells the achievements of Besse Coleman. Other PSA include film director Gordon Parks, Paul Roberson and the Civil Rights Movement

The Biography Channel will show the biographies of famed African-Americans throughout the month including former boxing champ Muhammad Ali, champion civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr, Secretary of State Colin Powell and and legendary singer Billie Holiday.

Beyonce in line for coverted role in upcoming 'Superman' flick

Superman's girl - BeyonceFresh off her record setting grammy wins last week, R&B's reigning 'leading lady' Beyonce could be the next leading lady in Clark Kent's life in the upcoming 'Superman' movie.

According to the website 'Extra', 'Charlie‘s Angels' director McG has been attached to the movie as it's director and he's currently considering the beaming beauty for the role as Superman‘s love interest. When asked about landing the prime gig Beyonce said "I hope so, Everyone pray that happens for me!"

Also in the running for plum roles are Johnny Depp whom may actually be up for Jor-El and not Lex Luthor as previously reported and Henry Cavill for title role of Superman (reminding you that he's THE contender at the moment).

Missy Elliott joins the reality series craze

It seems that this thing with the reality show is not going away any time soon as one of raps premiere innovators joins suit. You hear about the stories of what happens when artists go on tour well Missy Elliott has decided to take it on step further.

The hip-hop rapper/producer is in talks to develop a reality television show based around her life on tour. Elliott will bring the cameras along this spring as she embarks on the first major co-headlining trek of her career, the Triple Threat Tour, featuring herself alongside sultry soul divas Beyoncé and Alicia Keys. The show is being developed for UPN.

Missy talked up the show at the Grammys this past week, where she picked up the award for Best Female Rap Solo Performance. Her spokesperson said it was too early to provide any more details on the project.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday Elliott was announced as one of five new spokespeople for M.A.C. Cosmetics' Viva Glam Fund.

Erykah Badu is expecting her second child

Expecting again - Erykah BaduNeo-Soulstress Erykah Badu has a bun in the oven again but the father isn't who you'd expect it to be. According to reports, the proud pop is none other than rapper The D.O.C (who knew?). Representatives for Universal/Motown confirmed her pregnancy, but wouldn’t reveal if the legendary lyricist fathered the baby or if he maintains a long-term relationship with Badu.

As you may already know, Badu already has a 6-year-old child, her name is Seven, with Andre 3000 of OutKast. Apparently her lengthy relationship with rapper Common ended for reasons unknown. She's currently on tour with British duo Floetry.

The D.O.C. helped establish two of hip-hop’s great rap labels, Eazy E’s Ruthless Records and Dr. Dre and Suge Knight’s Death Row.

“I've written a little bit for everybody, all of the players on all of my teams. Except for Cube, I never wrote for Cube. But all the players on my team, from '87 til today, I've written for,” D.O.C. told AllHipHop.com in a previous interview.

But before ghostwriting, he was a lyricist whose talents fully manifested themselves on 1989’s No One Can Do It Better. The CD went on to exceed the platinum sales mark.

Shortly after his album was released, D.O.C. was in a tragic car crash that derailed his promising career. The accident, where he fell asleep at the wheel, crushed his voice-box causing his voice to permanently sound hoarse. He continued to perform skits and write for Death Row Records, providing a sound foundation for the hit making machine. He later released a second album, Helter Skelter, and in 2002, he released Deuce
