            Beyonce
'Temps' us with latest movie role
               Beyoncé is certainly
a busy lady these days. With her singing gig going so well (scoring
a number one single with 'Crazy in Love')
and after getting a taste of the acting bug in the films Carmen
                - A Hip Hopera and last years Austin
Powers - Goldmember, she's ready to struts her stuff
in her latest role as a gospel singer in her latest film 'The
                Fighting Temptations'.
The sexy siren's new film features Oscar Winner Cuba
Gooding Jr as her leading man who is a New York ad
executive who has to assemble a gospel group in Georgia in order
to claim a large inheritance. Beyoncé plays a nightclub
singer recruited to join the choir. Singers Faith
                Evans, Montell Jordan,
Angie Stone and one time disco
                diva Melba Moore are also
in the cast and also contribute to the soundtrack as well.

And speaking of soundtracks, she duets on just about every song
on there (well 8 of the 14 songs on there). The lead offf single
will be the title track from the film featuring Missy Elliott,
Free (from BET's 106 and Park)
and my girl rapper MC Lyte.
Here is the track listing for the soundtrack.

             Luther
shows positive signs of recovery, regains 90% of his voice

                 Luther
Vandross is giving fans the reason--the reason to believe. The
Grammy-winning R&B balladeer, stricken in April by a stroke,
is now talking and showing movement on his right side, reports
say. A spokeswoman for J Records,
Vandross' label home, calls those two breakthroughs the "most
                    exciting developments. Every
day there's something new," the rep tells Rolling Stone.
                     Another sign of progress:
The hit-maker, currently being cared for at an undisclosed
rehab facility, is recognizing his own tunes on the radio,
and sometimes singing along. Still, J Records' Lois Najarian,
is careful not to overstate the challenges ahead for Vandross,
telling the Associated Press she doesn't want to "give
the impression that miracles are taking place and he's going
to be up and singing right away." The fact that he's singing
at all, though, is why his business manager once described
his progress as a "modern-day miracle." Vandross
was found unconscious in his Manhattan apartment on April
                    16. In the ensuing touch-and-go weeks, the critically ill
crooner battled pneumonia and endured a tracheotomy, all while
                    in a coma.

              'Ready
for the World is ready for a comeback
                   Remember
the band Ready For The World
                  - the group that made their mark with the Number One R&B
                  dance floor hit 'Oh Sheila'
in 1985 and the ballad 'Let Me Love
You Down' has reunited to record and promote a new
                  single, called 'Black-N-Mild'.
The band is currently completing work on a full-length CD, expected to be released in October
                  on California-based Stoney Burke Recordings.

Ready For The World still features the same lineup, which includes
                  lead singer Melvin Riley
                  along with John Eaton on
                  bass, Greg Potts on keyboards,
                   Gordon Strozier on lead
                  guitar, Willie Triplett, Jr.
                  on percussion, and Gerald Valentine
on drums. Signed to MCA, Ready For
The World was rare in that it was one of the few
new jack acts to actually play all their own instruments.

Known as much for their funky clothes and wild '80s hairstyles,
the members of Ready For The World
prided themselves on their musicianship, blending rock and funk
                  with soul. Member Willie Triplett
says that the new CD will reflect current R&B trends. He
says, "We're staying with the times at least. I think we
were pretty much in a class by ourselves in the beginning because
there were not a lot of bands out at the time. At the present,
we're making sure the music is up to date, and lyric-wise, we're
                  on the mark."
