Welcome to the 1st issue of Ty-Dmusic Scene, an informative newsletter keeping you updated with the latest news, reviews and previews on the music scene today.

First I'd like to say Happy New Year to one and all, I hope you all get what you plan to achieve this year. As for Ty-Dmusic.com we plan to make this year an even stellar year than last, we have some interesting ideas we plan to incorporate with the site and we are looking forward to having you grow with us.

There is a lot to tell you about where the music scene is concerned, from the highly anticipated release of the Isley Brothers latest album 'to the resurfacing of one of R&B's legendary soulstress Gladys Knight to the latest from soul man Maxwell and much more so here we go...

Maxwell set to release new set which he dedicates to 'his fans'

Smooth soul man Maxwell is set to release his 4th album 'Now' which he says he will dedicate entirely to his loyal fans. The album (which is scheduled to be released this spring) sees the return of Stuart Matthrewman of Sade fame as one of the producers and the 1st single called 'Get to know ya ' (which Maxwell has just finished filming the video for) is set to go to radio in the next couple of weeks.

Written and produced by the man himself, Maxwell said "I wanted to pay tribute to those who put me where I am today.... my fans and I wanted to get to know them more intimately (on a one on one level) if you know what I mean".

Gladys Knight returns to the spotlight 'At Last '

The Legendary lead singer of the group Gladys Knight and the Pips who enjoyed tremendous success in the 70's and 80's with the Pips and in the 90's as a solo artist returns to the spotlight after a 3yr hiatus from the music industry. Ms. Knight who recently admitted to having a gambling addiction has just finished her 4th album for MCA amply called 'At last '. The album combines a mixture of contemporary RNB and soul with a fine array of producers including the return of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis with whom Gladys worked with on the 'Just for you ' set.

The lead off single 'If I were your woman 2 ' was sent to radio this week and I will be playing it frequently and often so listen up.

The Isley Bros set to return with 'Incredible' new album

The brothers are back, the Isley Bros that is and they are set to return to the limelight (which is good news for young and old fans alike) with their 1st studio album in 5 years. The album called 'Incredible ' will have producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis producing 5 of the songs and the grammy winning producers said that they were in orr of the famous family who were surprised to see that they were fans of their work. Said Jimmy "they knew almost  every song we ever did. Ernie would sit down with the guitar and start playing 'Weekend Girl ' and 'Tell Me If You Still Care,' and then Ron Isley would start singing the song itself it was just incredible. It was a great experience all around."

Erykah set to go on month long tour to support 'Mama's Gun'

Soul diva Erykah Badu has finalized more than month's worth of tour dates in support of her sophomore Motown set "Mama's Gun," which was released last November. The album features the single "Bag Lady" and "Didn't you know" has been the No.1 most requested song on my radio show 'The Menu' the last 2 weeks. It's said to be her best work yet and the LP has spent several weeks in the Top 10 of the Billboard RNB chart.

"
Bag Lady " was recently nominated for two Grammy Awards: Best Female R&B Vocal performance and Best R&B Song. The 43rd annual awards will be held Feb. 21 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and will be broadcasted live on CBS television. Her month long tour will start Feb. 10 in Cleveland and wrap up March 18 in Dallas.

Here are Erykah's tour dates:

Fmr members of Destiny's Child  settle one lawsuit as 'Independent Women' hits 10th straight wk @ No.1 on Billboard's Top 100 Singles Charts.

Former Destiny's Child members La Tavia Robertson and Le Toya Luckett settled their lawsuit with the group out of court. Details about the terms were under wraps and on the hush hush but their suit with the band's manager (and Be'yonce's dad) Matthew Knowles is still bending. The gals said that they did not get their 'fair share' of the groups earning when they were there and wants their piece of the pie.

The group originally started out with lead singer and songwriter Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rawland, La Tavia Robertson and Le Toya Luckett. Last year La Tavia and La Toya were fired. Two new members (Michelle and Farrah) were added and then Farrah left a few months back.

The newly reformed Destiny's Child is sitting pretty atop the Billboard Top 100 chart for a 10th straight week with their latest single 'Independent Woman Pt.1 ' from the 'Charlie's Angels ' SDTK. The song (which was written and co-produced by lead singer Beyonce Knowles) is the chant that's on the lips of every independent woman (and man for that matter) across the globe and will certainly be certified platinum in single sales in the not so distant future.

Record Mogul Louie Silas Jr Dies

Silas, founder of Silas Records, was the key ingredient in the career successes of Bobby Brown and New Edition in the eighties and more recently launching the careers of Damian Hall, Jesse Powell, Keith Washington and the lovely and talented Chante Moore. My sincere condolences go out to his family for their loss.
